Intelligent Traffic Management and Green Corridor

Description

This proposed project presents a real-time vision system for automatic traffic surveillance based on a number of cameras deployed to capture and process images. A real time video-surveillance system embedded smart cameras is presented aiming at a wide range of traffic surveillance and monitoring scenarios, in which traffic bypassing in case of any casuality, event detection, vehicle identification, and tracking, vehicle population calculation and ensuring easy and swift passage to ambulances through heavy traffic. A demo system with overall architecture and simplified components will be implemented, where a network of roads at a node will be provided with a system of 3 cameras and a processing unit along with the ambulance passage demo model, and also ensuring that both the model work independently or dependent on each other to provide optimum results.

Quadcopter & Image Processing

Description

National Institute of Technology Silchar establishes RESEARCH PROMOTION CELL (RPC) to promote research and provide research support to B.Tech /M.Tech /M.Sc students of NIT Silchar. The cell take up all possible works right from publication of notification, evaluation to sanctioning of Institutional research proposals from the eligible students of NIT Silchar.

Ethane-O-Creeper

Description

Ethane-o creeper or Pipe crawler robot are those flexible robots well sited for carrying out inspections on pipe systems, especially those that have a lot of bends, vertical sections and pipe branches. They can be efficiently employed in nuclear power industry, chemical plants, refineries etc. With a web camera fixed to the vehicle an inside view of the pipe can be easily viewed. In the proposed design the robot will preferably include a plurality of wheels aligned parallel to the longitudinal axis of the pipe. Other components will include 2 dc motors, gas cylinder springs in the axle of the wheel and a lithium ion battery with a minimum capacity of 1 Kwh.

Study on Improvement of bearing capacity of soft clay using Geocell Reinforcement

Description

Soft clay is present in different parts of our country particularly in the plain areas of Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura etc. The main difficulty with soft clay is that it is highly compressible and is susceptible to high consolidation settlement. The bearing capacity of this type of soil is also very low. Hence, soft soil cannot be used directly for a foundation soil unless some ground improvement technique is applied or piles are constructed. Ground treatment is a time consuming process, whereas, pile construction is not economic. On the other hand, if some layers of geocell reinforced soft clay is not well developed and thus people are doubtful about its use. In the present study it is proposed to carry out some prototype tests to establish the bearing capacity theory of geocell reinforced soft clay. It is expected that the output of the project will help the civil engineers to construct buildings over soft clay immediately and economically.

`DRAGONSURVX`-Biomimesys of a dragonfly into a micro aerial vehicle for surveillance

Description

The scope of this project is to fabricate a Mini Robotic Dragonfly(size less than 15cm) inspired from the natural dragon fly which will offer ample amount of scope in surveillance and security which can be used mainly in the defence sector, disaster management sector , civilian sector and other sectors. Not only the module can be used in the above sectors but also to access the areas which is inaccessible to any mankind, Advance Research , Object and Person detection, Arial photography. The module will blend with the nature having Aerodynamic stability and produce least noise. Comparing to conventional Quadcopters which is bulky, costly and having less battery life, the Dragonfly will overcome these limitations. Further it will be able to stand on any degree of inclination(less than or equal to 90 degrees). The module will be controlled manually through radio transmission (using mobile devices) and/or it will have autonomous navigation.

Automatic Pet Feeder

Description

The present invention relates to an automatic pet food server, and in particular to a device which automatically provides fresh, moist pet food and water for a pet on a periodic basis. The project aims at making an automatic pet feeder (electronic),where refrigeration system would have been installed. The refrigeration system is mainly used for preserving wet food ,as in present there are already many varieties of dry food preservers are available.

Study on Failure of soils through Centrifuge testing

Description

The main objective of the present research is to fabricate a centrifuge testing setup for NITS and use this setup to study the failure behavior of soil slopes. The centrifuge testing machine will mainly consist of a high capacity motor which will rotate a lever arm of radius 50 cm. On one side of the arm, testing platform will be installed and on the outer side a counter weight will be placed. The motor will induce centrifugal acceleration to the testing platform. The equipment will be then used initially for consolidation settlement related problems or soil subsidence and understanding slope failure problems.

Development of new triaxial cell for determination of shear parameters of soil.

Description

Main objective of this project is to fabricate a new tri-axial cell, such that the cross section of the loading ram and that of the soil sample are same so that the load will act uniformly throughout the cross section and also to observe ,analyze the shear parameters of the soil by using a cuboidal soil sample by applying axial stress and lateral stress independently. The horizontal stress and the vertical stress are not equal in actual field conditions and are taken equal in laboratory during the consolidation process.

Focussing and Positioning system using Automated Robot

Description

Considering this situation of Northeast how critical the problem of insurgency in this region this project is small innovative effort to empower counterterrorism activities.Recent statistics released by US show and we hope that at least one million security forces and half million civilians have lost their life due to this. This project bring into the picture some innovative ideas like feedback system electrical design for bots so that camera remains stationary at all time and through the use of simple robot system and plan to bring down its cost will be successful and will be a great use to the local population and it will play a significant role in saving thousands of innocent lives.

SORBI(Solar Powered Bamboo Rickshaw)

Description

With the recent advancement in science and technology there is increased consumption of energy which is precisely non renewable energy.The energy sources are overly exploited which is resulting in their depletion and most of these lead to pollution and global warming .To cope up with the present situation there is need to exploit the sources of renewable energy. In the present scenario there is increase uses of Rickshaw,Auto rickshaw and Taxies by the general public the means of travel to meet their daily needs. The uses of pedal driven Rickshaw is very prominent is the most part of the Northeast state and northern States which requires physical participation of a person to drive another person or their goods. This project is to develop a solar powered bamboo Rickshaw which aim to reduce the physical labour and shifting towards the usage of renewable sources.

ATV car with dual Transmission system with electronic control

Description

All terrain vehicles are very important part of military hazard management and also for tracking in hills, deserts and in uneven conditions we are going to make a new type of mechanism by using the lock and open differential is a single unit and do some modification to reverse the motion of CVT in order to float and run in the water there are some extra arrangement in the air box which give direct power to propeller and compressor. The outcome of this are (1) This car can be used in field of Army just because it is an ATV car. (2) It can be a good solution for forest Rangers it can be used in field of an natural hazard management. (3) Less wait and high efficiency. (4) Most cost effective compared to other CVT (5) It can provide the full power of engine to compressor and propeller to run at maximum level (6) New lightweight,sustainable and compact rollcage. (7) Less turning radius which allow more flexibility.

Piezoelectric driven thermocoustic Refrigerator.

Description

This project aims at building a refrigerator which will be eco-friendly and CTC free present days conventional refrigerators uses refrigerants which creates ozone layer depletion or global warming effects. The government has planned to Ban this Refrigerents up to 2040.Research are being conducted all over the world for new techniques for refrigeration. This project uses a new technology in which the vibration of Acoustic waves impart cooling effect in refrigeration system which cuts out the use ofharmful refrigerants .This is a friendly and cost-effective Technology.As the main model is large, the project aims at designing a small prototype of the required models. Advantages over conventional refrigerator (1)As no moving parts are used so it doesn't require lubrication and have longer life span as compared to conventional refrigerator (2)No use of harmful refrigerants.

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF TEA LEAF PLUCKING MACHINE.

Description

This device will not only mechanize the entire plucking process but also maintain its quality. Machine plucking is not a new concept in the gardens in cachar area but plucking using presently available machine is just a petite substitute for hand plucking. Some of the basic reasons are:- - they are bulky and hence not easily operable. - runs on petrol which is costly causes more vibration and not environment friendly. -not in indigenously manufactured.

Biometric Sensing.

Description

Presently there are two type of problem with EVM which is currently used- (1)SECURITY PROBLEM-One can change the program installed in EVM and tamper the results. (2)ILLEGAL VOTING-Very common problem known as rigging. This Biometric sensing will eliminate this problem and can make the election process more smooth and error free. Also this can be applied in other related field.

It is an easy to use wheel chair for mainly handicapped people.Battery of the system can be recharge using solar panels or from AC supply.It can be transformed for chair to bed.Wireless system for data communication and analysis.Joystick controller,speech,touchscreen,Smartphone etc will be capable of controlling the system.Obstacle avoidance system,GPS,etc will also be a part of it.
